Cub Scouts / Boy Scouts
Our church is proud to be the charter organization for both Cub Scout Pack 78 and Boy Scout Troop 78. The Scouts meet at Eaton United Methodist Church every Tuesday and the Cub Scouts on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Eaton UMC has sponsored the Scouts for over 65 years. The Scouts and church depend on each other. Eaton UMC provides a building to store their equipment and for their meetings. The church has also purchased a trailer to haul camping equipment. Both participate in Scout Sunday. The Scouts purchase and help put down mulch at the church. They assist with set up and tear down of of our Block Party and donate their tents for the event. The Scouts help with the Rummage Sale removal and clean up. They set up Christmas Eve sidewalk lanterns, which they converted from kerosene to electric. The Eagle project replaced the wood fence by the parking lot.The Scouts also pick up trash around the church and the neighborhood. They “Scout for Food” in the neighborhood by placing bags on doorknobs and then picking up the food filled bags. Other Scouting events include the Memorial Day Flag placement at Mound Hill Cemetery and a Memorial Day parade. Also a fishing derby, summer cookout, car wash, bake sale and Cu Boom Day Camp. This is not a complete list but is a good example of our great Scout organization.
